I am an academic-professional hybrid holding two appointments at The University of Queensland (UQ). My academic appointment is as Associate Lecturer (teaching-focussed) with the UQ School of Biological Sciences. In this role, I optimise student learning, performance and assessment in undergraduate biology courses. My professional appointment is as Engagement Officer (Marketing and Outreach) with the UQ Faculty of Science Engagement Unit. In this role, I work with UQ Future Students to deliver unique on-campus experiences to Year 10-12 students. I also represent the UQ Faculty of Science in key recruitment markets including but not limited to Singapore, Malaysia, Indonesia, Hong Kong, and China. I am also part of a Faculty initiative supporting senior teachers in Queensland through multi-modal Teacher Continuing Professional Development workshops to address the new suite of science and mathematics General Senior Syllabuses. I completed my PhD in 2017. My research explores insect-plant interactions: understanding the intricate relationships between crop plants and their insect pests enable us to employ pest management strategies that ultimately reduce our reliance on insecticides. Outside of my classroom, I enjoy ornamental fish-keeping and strategy-based video games.
